Inside The Box: Fiber Gourmet Crackers

It's no secret that most boxed crackers are empty carbs and empty calories, but when it comes to a crunch to accompany a spread, sometimes, crudite doesn't do it. I get that. And, it's not always practical to say you can whip up a batch of your own. Fortunately, guilt-free crackers DO exist, and these Fiber Gourmet crackers are a perfect example. I love the cinnamon ones, and since the box is a little cartoon-y, I thought this was a perfect candidate for Inside the Box.

As you can see, the cartoon image on the box actually represents the real look of the cracker fairly well. And I will vouch for the fact that the portion-controlled 70 calorie pouches are the perfect size. I'm actually a huge fan of all of the fiber gourmet products. I love their crackers, pasta, and stay tuned for a future post revealing a new Flab Free Food Find from them!

Inside The Box: Thin Slim Bagels

If you're skeptical of a bagel that only has 50 calories, you're not alone. Initially, I couldn't imagine actually enjoying a bagel with such awesome stats, and I certainly didn't think it would be a normal size bagel, but Thin Slim to the rescue, as usual! While I only like the cinnamon bagels (I find the whole wheat ones have a seriously wheat-y, cardboard-like taste), I use the cinnamon ones as my go-to bread for everything- grilled cheese, egg sandwiches, lox and cream cheese, etc. (P.S., Tiny Tummy's Cinnamon Cream Cheese is delicious on these bagels!) And since it is a little hard to see what the bagels look like based on the company's photo, I figured I would show you mine (pictured on my classy paper plate ;))

Inside the Box (or Bag!): Al Dente Noodles

Lately, especially with the construction that has been taking place in my house, pasta has become an easy meal to just throw together. Often, it is assumed that pasta is automatically a carb-y, caloric, diet-ruining dish, but it doesn't have to be! While pasta in restaurants often fits this description perfectly, that is because it is most likely a GIGANTIC portion with an unhealthy sauce, but the beauty of making your own pasta is you're in control of how much you make, what goes on it, and of course, what pasta you use!

We all know Al Dente's Garlic Fettuccine is one of my faves, but upon visiting the new Fairway that opened up locally (I'm in love by the way!), I actually came across a bunch of other varieties of Al Dente's pasta and decided to try it out. Pictured below are the lemon pepper fettuccine and the spicy sesame linguine (not low carb, but Daddy Tiny Tummy has to eat too, and carb-conscious he is not!). Both are pictured prior to being cooked, though they don't puff up like some pastas do, so their appearance doesn't really change.

Inside the Box: Miracle/ Konjac Noodles

Not going to lie, Miracle Noodles are a scary concept at first. Often described as slimy, smelly noodles, why would anyone want to go near them, but when prepared properly, they are quite easy to work with, and look just like normal noodles! Here's an insider's look at what these guys look like inside the package! The specific suckers pictured are Konjac Noodles!

Inside the Box: Health is Wealth Chicken Free Patties

For anyone who hasn't read my previous posts professing my love for these chicken-free patties, here is yet another post dedicated to these frozen delicacies. Contrary to most frozen products, these patties actually look almost exactly as they are pictured on the box once they thaw and cook through, and they taste absolutely delicious. With the construction that has taken place in my house over the last couple of weeks, Health is Wealth has become my best friend for dinner. I've probably eaten these patties for dinner a good three or four times! Thank you Health is Wealth!

Inside the Box: ThinSlim Muffins and Brownies

Full disclosure: I basically don't go a single day without eating a product by ThinSlim foods. Their muffins, brownies, and squares are beyond to die for (as I reviewed here). While they aren't massive in size, they satisfy the craving for baked goods, and if I can afford to eat a muffin and a brownie every single day, you better believe I'm going to! A lot of people are reluctant to buy these products because they are relatively expensive for their size and the company doesn't post pictures of the actual product on their site, but take my word for it, they are TOTALLY worth it. Here's an insiders look at their muffins- blueberry, chocolate, and cinnamon!

Inside the Box

This post is a little sneak peak at what's to come based on a thought that I had coming from my most recent frustrations. Often, companies make their packaging look a hell of a lot better than their food actually does- extremely annoying in my opinion- especially when you open the packaging to find something completely different than what's pictured, hence I've decided to dedicate a new section of the blog to a category entitled inside the box, in which I will actually photograph some of the products I try to show you what they look like inside the packaging because nobody appreciates deceitful advertising!
